Howell Marketing Strategies founded the Memphis Chapter of Social Media Club. Social Media Club hosts conversations that explore key issues facing our society as technologies transform the way we connect, communicate, collaborate and relate to each other. The Club’s primary mission is to promote media literacy, promote standard technologies, encourage ethical behavior and share best practices. Social Media Club brings together journalists, publishers, communications professionals, artists, amateur media creators, citizen journalists, teacher, students, tool makers, business people and other interested collaborators. The Memphis Chapter aims to create and facilitate a community forum for ongoing communication and education on social media technology.

Spring 2012 Marketing & Social Media Internship Opportunity

Howell Marketing Strategies is seeking a spring 2012 intern to focus on social media and marketing duties.

Qualifications:

  • Student concentrating in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing available to set a schedule for certain hours each week
  • Knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and blogging platforms such as WordPress, etc. is essential
  • Proficient in marketing programs
  • Demonstrate great attitude, written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Social media strategy and assistance
  • Day-to-day office activities (such as updating contact and media lists)
  • Administrative duties as assigned in the PR and marketing arena
  • Willingness to accompany staff on client & prospect meetings as needed
  • Monitoring social media for clients
  • Knowledge of video and video capabilities is a plus, but not required

Academic Credit:

The spring 2012 internship would be for academic credit.
